Car Hire in St Etienne - Getting to St Etienne
Saint-Etienne is located in the Rhone-Alps region in the southeast of France. The town has the advantage of being near the most important city of the region, Lyon, and benefits from all the transport services it attracts. The main A6 motorway brings traffic from Paris and the north, and the Paris-Lyon railway line also keeps the city connected.
Saint Etienne International Airport is situated just 15 minutes north of the city centre. You can get indirect flights here from most countries via Paris. There is a bus service between the town centre and the airport that connects with incoming and outgoing flights. Taxis are plentiful and readily available from outside the terminal building.
By road from Paris, there are basically only three main motorways you have to use to reach St Etienne. Take the A6 (Paris-Lyon) motorway all the way to Lyon, connecting with the A7 south. Turn right at the A47 exit for St Etienne and carry on to the city (525kms). From the Spanish border and Toulouse direction, head north on the A9 and A7, turning left on to the A47.
Trains run every hour from Paris Gare de Lyon to St Etienne Chateaucreux via Lyon, taking three hours. Direct trains are 10 minutes faster. From Marseilles St Charles station, trains go every hour via Lyon and take between three and five hours.
