Car Rental Spokane - Exploring Spokane
The quaint town of Coeur d'Alene is 50kms east of Spokane, just over the Idaho state border and is situated on a beautiful lake. National Geographic Magazine called it one of the five most scenic alpine lakes in the world. Here you can paddle, sail or motor along the pine-clad shore in small boats, rent houseboats, or opt for day, dinner and lake cruises on paddle wheel steamers.
50kms northwest of the city, Mount Spokane State Park offers great views of the surrounding prairies. Take one of the many scenic nature trails that wind through the untouched forest or drive to the peak and enjoy the scenery.
Driving east will bring you to Yakima, one of the countrys biggest fruit growing regions and home to dozens of wineries, most of which are open for tours and tasting.
Farther on youll reach the stunning Cascade Mountains and the lush green forests beyond. The whole range runs east to the Pacific coast and is a nature lovers paradise, with limitless hiking trails and other outdoor activities on offer. Here you can also take in the awesome devastation still evident from the 1980 eruption of Mt St Helens and see the glaciers of towering Mt Rainer.
Puget Sound is breathtaking, as is Olympic Peninsulas lush rainforest that borders the untouched beaches of the Pacific Ocean and the state capital of Olympia. From here you can visit laid-back Seattle, the largest city in the state, or the world famous natural beauty of British Columbia just across the Canadian border.
