The city centre is a harmonious blend of old and new architectural styles dating back 300 years, the Victoria and Albert Waterfront is an exciting tourist drawcard and gateway to Robben Island, infamously home to the incarcerated Nelson Mandela. Kirstenbosch Botanical gardens and the riviera-like Camps bay are also popular.
Durban is the entertainment hub of the east coast, boasting the golden mile of luxury hotels and apartments. The marvellous beaches here offer reliable surfing year-round and pleasant seaside towns are found all along this stretch of coast.
Johannesburg is the commercial hub of the country. Tours to the township of Soweto are now popular, as well as a look in on the Gold mining industry at the restored turn-of-the-century village of Gold Reef City. The city also boasts many modern malls with excellent shopping, as well as an impressive choice of cultural entertainment.
The sister city of Pretoria is the country’s capital. The Union Buildings and Voortrekker monument are some of the many grand buildings to be seen among the colourful jacaranda trees that make the city famous.
Kimberley is interesting purely because of its diamond industry on display at the remarkable big hole and turn of the century colonial village.
By car you can explore the fantastic Cape region, beautiful Garden Route, Drakensburg Mountains of Natal, Sun City and the Kruger Park.
