SoestAlong Hellweg road down 50 km on the eastern and western sides of Dortmund and Paderborn respectively lies the town of Soest, the former capital of Westphalia. The eponymous district took form in 1817 though the industrialized Ruhr was unable to influence Soest. Today, the city hosts a few light industries and earns mostly through the dairy farms.
Soest stands as an evidence of the great losses the Second World War incurred upon Germany, though it retains a portion of the old architectures including the gatehouse of 1526 and the thousand year old cathedral of St. Patroclus.
