The first mention of this town is found in the documents of 1155; however it was only in 1263 that this town was founded by Graf Rudolf von Tübingen-Herrenberg. Sindelfingen collaborated with the French city Corbeil-Essonnes in 1958, and by 1962 Sindelfingen became ""Grobe Kreisstadt”.
The Nature Reserve that is popularly termed as The Glemswald lies in the northern part of the town and provides travelers with a very interesting look at the natural fauna and flora in Germany. You will also find the river Schwippe starts flowing from this town.
Arriving at this town is easy. The Stuttgart airport is nearby and is connected to Sindelfingen with Expressway S-Bahn. The automobile industry forms the main economy of Sindelfingen. The Daimler AG factory offers good career opportunities and employs most of the people of this town. Around the middle ages, the economy was mostly based on the weaving industry. Currently, a few fashion boutiques exist.
The Statue of Gossips at the Old City Hall is worth seeing while you are here and the St. Martin’s Church built between the 11th and the 12th century forms the major landmark of the town. Sindelfingen hosts an annual festival called International Street Fair featuring ethnic foods. Performances from the adjacent cities and from local ethnic clubs attract tourists from all over the world.
