SiegenSiegen is located in a basin of upper Sieg River. The city is surrounded by mountains and valleys. Arriving in this city is easy as it is accessible by many roads and highways. Frankfurt is 125km southwest while Cologne is 93km away from Siegen.
The museum for Modern art is one of the places worth visiting. It remains open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11 am until 6pm. The Beatles-museum in Geisweid houses sound storage media, autographs and film posters. It won the Guinness Book World Records Award in 2000 for being the smallest public museum. Two churches, the Martinikirche of 11th century and the Nikolaikirche forms part of the main landmark of Siegen.
Tourists often enjoy the hiking tours and sight seeing trails offering views of the charming environment. Small towns close by such as Hilchenbach are also worth visiting. Events and festivals continue to be celebrated throughout the year. Alternate New Year starts off with SILA. Other events include “Mittwochs in"" from June till August. This event features different bands every Wednesday. Johannimarkt is a fair that has been held for the past 400 years and very popular. The Siegen Open Air Theatre and Burger Fest are also great events to attend. The year ends with the wonderful Christmas market.
