Ficuzza is a royal hunting lodge about 50kms south of Palermo in the township of Corleone. Ficuzza is set amidst large woods which today are protected as part of a nature reserve that includes streams and a man-made lake. The Ficuzza Palace was a residence of King Ferdinando I.

Mount Etna is Sicily’s greatest natural attraction. Etna offers skiing in the winter months and breathtaking hikes in the woods during the summer. The scenic Alcantara Gorge is located on the Alcantara River north of Mount Etna. This beautiful rock formation, composed of basalt, was created by volcanic activity.
