Car Hire in Sheffield - Getting to Sheffield
Sheffield Airport opened in early 1998 offering flights to and from nearby European cities. It is situated on the east side of the city between The Parkway and the M1 motorway. Many airlines however have withdrawn from Sheffield and the airport is now largely unused. National Express do run services to Sheffield from some major airports, the closest being at Manchester.
Sheffield's mainline railway station is the Midland Station. Travellers from London should use St Pancras Station in the capital to reach Sheffield.
The most economical way to get to Sheffield is by coach. National Express runs a rapid service arriving at the Pond Street coach terminal in the city centre. They run a coach trip service to London running 42 trips per week. In London, find the Victoria Coach Station near to the Victoria Underground and main line stations. It is then a walk or shuttle trip of a few hundred yards to the coach station.
Sheffield is served well by the M1 Motorway running to the east of the city with a direct link at junction 33 (the Parkway) into the centre of town. Manchester is reached using the A57 or A616. The M18 heads for Doncaster.
