Mini guide to Shanghai Airport
Twenty-one domestic airlines and 20 foreign airlines now use Shanghai’s main airport. The airport is positioned 13km southwest of downtown Shanghai, and though slightly down-at-heel, actually operates quite efficiently.
There is one terminal at the airport, which serves the needs of the 12 million passengers that use the airport yearly.
A bank is provided at the airport and opens daily from 06:00-22:00. Bureaux de change facilities are also present in the terminal, as is a post office.
A variety of restaurants and bars are distibuted across the terminal, with both Chinese and international fare on hand. There is plenty of shopping available with duty-free shopping provided in the departures areas. A number of souvenir-type stores sell various products, from flamboyant scrolls to silk pajamas. It's a safer option to buy maps and city guides in downtown hotels.
24-hour business facilities are offered by the Shanghai International Airport Hotel (tel: +86 21 6268 8888). Facilities include a number of meeting rooms, telephone, fax, photocopying and telex facilities, as well as optional catering services.
Disabled restrooms are available in the terminal building and the airport is provided with lifts and ramps to facilitate access.
