To arrive at Schwangau-Horn, travel south from Donauwörth along the B-25 via Augsburg and then B-17 till you arrive at Märchenwald. You may spend some time there watching the great playground, the zoo and the forest – the last being the place where the mechanical versions of German folklore creatures provide quite an excitement.

The Bavarian Alps are next to come into view and this is where you enter the Schwangau before arriving at the village of Schwangau-Horn, famous for the Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles. Make sure you don’t miss out on the fantastic light and sound shows here.

The Neuschwanstein is a great sight from the Marienbrücke Bridge as well; the narrow, 305 foot high bridge spans the Poellat Gorge. The castle still houses the gold-steeped throne room and the elegant opera-hall. The neighbouring Hohenschwangau Castle is also a treat offering different grounds and interiors to marvel at. The Tegelberg cable cars are another chief attraction of Schwangau-Horn.

The Altstadt, or Old Town will allow to go back in time as you enjoy the Olde-Worlde charm of the Neues Rathaus's Glockenspiel at Marienplatz, and the duel of the knights. Take your time and relax at the Hofbrauhaus beer hall with something to drink and if you love brass bands, then be sure to stay for the live music. If you love a relaxed, yet vibrant atmosphere then you will want to return to Schwangau-Horn again and again.
