Getting to Sardinia
Located equidistant from Italy and Tunisia, Sardinia is most realistically reached by air. There are airports at Cágliari, Alghero and Olbia, all of which receive international flights. Alitalia has regular flights from Cagliari to several Italian cities, while charter flights from all over Europe service all three in the summer. From Asia or North America you have to connect via Rome, Naples or Milan. Shuttles from the airports to various towns and resorts are the most common means of leaving the airport, there is also a bus into the city from Cagliari airport.
Ferries also cross to Italy daily (4+ hours), from Cagliari to Palermo, Naples, Rome Elba. From Alghero ferries cross to Corsica and Nice throughout the summer.
