Santa Maria Island is the easternmost island of the Azores Archipelago. The airport is located near the Vila do Porto, the main urban centre. SATA (Air Azores) operates scheduled flights from/to Ponta Delgada and the Vila do Porto.
The airport has only one terminal that caters for all flights. Once inside the terminal, you can find a bank, post office and an ATM. A tourist information counter is also provided. A VIP lounge is available in the terminal. A request must be submitted to the Airport Director (+351(0) 296 82 00 20).
No porter service available at Santa Maria Airport. There are, however, free luggage trolleys for inbound and outbound passengers. For a fee (by item and length of safekeeping) passengers may leave their luggage at the left luggage counter located in the public area.
Information on flights to/from Santa Maria Airport can be obtained from the various flight information boards and at the SATA – Air Azores counter. Santa Maria Airport is located four kilometres from Vila do Porto. Public transport and taxis are available all over the island.
