Car Rental San Francisco Airport - Transportation to and From San Francisco Airport
San Francisco International Airport is served directly by taxi, shared-ride van and bus. Airport transit and rail stations are soon to join the modern car rental center as airport improvements.
Rail services are located off airport at Millbrae. Weekday service starts at 5:00am with one train per hour (two per hour during morning and afternoon rush hours) with the last departure at 23:59. Weekend services are less frequent, running every hour from 10:00 22:00. The journey time to Millbrae is approximately 25 minutes.
Transfers to/from the terminals are made by shuttle bus. Additional connections are served by BART services arriving at Daly City or Colma where SamTrans buses run to the airport.
Taxi cabs at San Francisco International Airport are available in the central island between the terminals, located on the airports lower level. San Francisco Airport shared ride vans can also be found in the central island between the terminals, located on the upper level for instant pick-ups, or on the lower level for pre-arranged fares.
If you are heading to the airport from San Francisco you can take Highway 101 South and exit when signs appear for San Francisco International Airport. From a southerly direction (e.g. Palo Alto), take Highway 101 North and exit at San Francisco Airport.
San Francisco International Airport operates short term and valet passenger parking in a central location between Terminals 1 and 3. Long term parking is located off the airport on McDonnell Road. This parking lot is connected by free shuttle bus to the terminals.
