Car Hire San Antonio - Mini guide to San Antonio
Located on the idyllic island of Ibiza, the town and bay of San Antonio is a perfect base to explore this enchanting island. The area itself has beautiful beaches, stunning scenery and a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere, which explains its popularity as a tourist destination.
It welcomes young tourists who flock to the West End quarter, which is the main nightspot with its pubs and bars, as well as the giant discotheques close to the bay or on the road towards Ibiza town.
Apart from the town, San Antonio comprises the areas of San Rafael, Santa Ines and San Mateo; all of them located in the interior of the municipality. Together with the neighbouring village of San José it shares the bay of Portmany, one of the most superb of the Mediterranean, known for centuries as Portus Magnus (big harbour). It has been adapted to our time without losing its splendour and beauty, and has retained its marine character in spite of the marina which shelters yachts and luxurious boats during the summer.
San Antonio attracts everybody by its scenic sunsets, with the silhouette of Conejera Island, which can be watched from the terraces of several musical cafes and it is loved for its maritime promenade and pedestrian streets, offering excellent shops, restaurants or a nightly fountain light show.
Driving along the coast, from north to south, you can discover the cliffs of Cala Aubarca and Cap Nunó, the coves and beaches of Cala Salada, Punta Galera, Cala Grassió, Caló des Moro, S'Arenal and one of Europe's most magnificent bays which partly belongs to San José and includes the famous beaches of Port des Torrent, Cala Bassa and Cala Comte.
San Antonio Airport can be reached via Valencia International Airport, which serves most major European and several US cities. The town and bay area is just 25 minutes from the airport, and there are plenty of regular and reliable shuttle services. In the summer Ibiza also receives plenty of flights from European cities.
