The airport is located near Vieux-Fort, at the southern tip of the island, 67km from Castries. It is served mainly by international airlines such as British Airways, British West Indian Airways, Air Canada, Air Jamaica and Virgin Atlantic Airways, with connections to Europe and North America.
There is only one terminal at Hewanorra International Airport, which caters for the 400,000 passengers that use the airport yearly. A second regional airport, Vigie, is situated adjacent to Castries but only services flights to Caribbean destinations.
Facilities open 06:00-23:00, except the bank which doesn't open until 12:00. Facilities available in the terminal include restaurants, cafeterias, bars, VIP lounges, duty-free shopping, a newsagent, a chemist shop, gift shop and tourist help desk. Further provisions include medical services and a hospital located 3km from the airport.
Wheelchairs, lifts and personal assistance are provided to facilitate the transit of those suffering from physical disabilities, with specially-adapted toilets also provided.
