The Genoese citadel built in 1440 is Saint-Florent’s lone monument. Unless you wish to spend some additional time enjoying the port and numerous cafes surrounding the Place des Portes, the city can easily be toured thoroughly in a morning or afternoon tour. Once you have taken the time to enjoy the view of the city from the round citadel above the town, travel around the harbor to take in the best overall panoramic view of the city.

By all means, if you are a connoisseur of good wines, take the time to sample some of the grapes from the Patrimonio wineries in the area. Only six kilometers to the northeast of Saint-Florent, the small village of Patrimonio is a good starting off point for other adventures in the Corsican countryside. Finally, travel northwest from Saint-Florent to the city of Saleccia to admire and enjoy its pristine white sand beaches.
