Car Rentals Russia - Weather in Russia
Russia has an incredibly varied climate due to its large size. The mildest area is the Baltic Coast with long warm summers and cold winters. Siberia is the opposite extreme with long, freezing winters and wet summers. The Steppes have hot dry summers with very cold winters. The north and northeastern Black Sea has mild winters, but heavy rainfall all the year round.
Summer season (June September) tends to be warm with temperatures in the mid 20s. This is also the wettest time of the year. Autumn (September - October) is a very scenic time of year, with mushrooms and berries everywhere, although the temperatures are still very low. Winters (November March) are generally freezing with thick snow by the end of November, which remains till April. The temperatures drop to -12 degrees in most places, except for the northeastern town of Oymyakon, with temperatures dropping down to 65 degrees (being the coldest inhabited place on earth!). In Spring (April May) the snow begins to melt, leaving behind plenty of slush and mud. This is therefore not the most pleasant time to visit.
