In Lower Saxony you will find a small town called Rinteln along the Weser River. This settlement was established in 1150 and was originally on the northern side of the river. Later on, in 1235 the New Rinteln was established on the south bank due to a plague that left the north bank deserted. The modern town is based from this area.

This area was once the main region during the Westphalian era and there was a university here. Later on it was split up but remained the county capital. There are many villages that fall under Rinteln and they are all situated along the river bank. Most of them are rural and will provide ample scenery for you to take in as well as the opportunity to see some old houses and buildings.

In the centre of town you can find a lovely night market place that is always vibrant and fun to attend.
