Lindos, 47km from Rhodes, is yet another historic gem on the island of Rhodes. Its Acropolis is the most famous of the Dodecanese's ancient cities and is spectacularly perched atop a 116m high rock. The 4th century Temple to Athena is also on the site. Lindos is one of the more visited spots on the island though, so do be prepared to for crowds.
Kamiros, another of the ancient cities of Rhodes, was built around the 7th century BC. Today after nearly 3000 years, you can still see the remains of very rich and advanced civilization that existed such a long time ago. A must-visit site for every archaeologist and history lover.
Of course Rhodes greatest attraction is its fantastic beaches. There are plenty of tourist resorts along the coast and Faliraki Beach is the best. Besides hotels and bars you can find some fine restaurants and romantic cafes. For those looking for a quiet stretch of beach to themselves, go to the east side of the island, especially between Gennadi and Plimmyri.
