Mini guide to Puerta Vallarta Airport
Centrally located on Mexicos west coast, Puerto Vallarta International Airport, Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, is served by twelve major airlines and countless charter companies. Puerto Vallarta is well connected to North America's major airports.
A single terminal building caters for all domestic and international flights. Flight check-in is located on the main level, which is also where domestic and international flights arrive. The domestic departure lounge and gates are also accessible from this floor. International passengers must use the upper level to get to the departure gates and duty-free shops.
The main level of Puerto Vallarta's airport offers several small shops and eating establishments as well as a post office, bank, currency exchange and several magazine stands. Telephones in the airport accept credit cards.
The second level of the airport offers a restaurant called Wings. Once past the passport and security check-in there is a large lounge/waiting area with duty-free shops selling liquors and perfume. There is a bar and small cafeteria as well.
Those who require special assistance or wheelchairs should notify their airlines when booking their flight. Specially fitted toilets and ramps are located across the airport. Designated parking areas are available in the car park opposite the terminal. An airport information desk is located in the centre of the ground floor of the terminal building.
Puerta Vallarta Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport is located six kilometres north of downtown. The airport can be reached by car via well signposted roads. Taxis and vans are available from outside the terminal building and run to central Puerta Vallarta and other nearby locations.
There is one large car park which offers short-term and long-term parking located directly opposite the terminal building. There is a pick-up and drop-off area right outside the terminal entrance, and assistance is available for the mobility impaired.
