Car Hire in Prague - Getting to Prague
Prague has two airports, but almost all international flights arrive at Ruzyne airport, 10kms northwest of the city. More than 20 airlines arrive here from European and Trans-Atlantic destinations as well as selected Asian cities. Minibus shuttles run directly to namesti Republiky (square) and Evropska metro station, there are also several inconvenient bus options to various points around the city. Taxis are numerous. Karlovy Vary is a smaller domestic airport with a few regional flights to neighbouring countries.
Prague is quite centrally located so its often easier to arrive by train or bus from Vienna, Budapest, Munich, Berlin and Warsaw. Trains also run daily between Prague and most major European cities; including Paris and Amsterdam. Czech Railways (CD) provides a cheap, efficient service, but buses can be faster and cheaper. The country is quite hilly, slowing down journeys.
Driving a car in Prague isnt too practical, but the roads to the countryside and borders are good, safe and not too crowded, with quick and efficient routes to Vienna, Bratislava, and Germany.
