Pinetown is a small community inland of Durban, South Africa in the KwaZulu-Natal coastal area. It sits at the intersection of the M7 and M13 highways on a branch that leaves the Mariannhill Toll Road. Car hire in Pinetown is the preferred means of getting to and from the coast.

The Pinetown railway station is north of the M13 along Chancery Lane. This public transportation artery connects to sites up and down the KwaZulu-Natal coast. Trains can connect to Johannesburg in half a day. It's even possible to drive between these two cities, though most would rather not commit to the nearly six-hour drive.

The airport in Durban is conveniently close and remains one of the best places to pick up cheap car hire in Pinetown. To get from the airport to Pinetown take Outer Ring Road (N2) north and then leave at St John's Avenue (M7). Total driving time is about 15 minutes and traffic is rarely a problem.
