Car Hire in Perpignan - Getting to Perpignan
Perpignan is located near the Mediterranean Sea and is only about 30kms from the Spanish border. The E15/A9 motorway is two kilometres from the town centre, and rail connections with major centres are frequent. The airport is only five kilometres to the north of the city and receives regular traffic from all over Europe, with daily flights to and from Paris, and popular flights from London with Ryanair.
A regular bus service operates between the airport and the centre of Perpignan, including stops at the main bus station and the SNCF's central train station. Buses leave from outside the terminal and cost 4. Taxis are also available from outside the terminal and a typical trip to Perpignan can cost around 15.
By car from Paris, take the A6 leading on to the A7 outside Lyon. Continue to Avignon on the A7, which leads on to the A9 all the way to Perpignan. Journey time is about eight hours for the 900-kilometre journey. A good idea would be to take a break for the night in Lyon. Coming from Spain and Barcelona, head north on the A9 all the way to Perpignan.
Four trains per day arrive from Paris, taking up to ten hours after stopping first at Montpellier. There are also at least three conventional trains that pull into Perpignan from Nice, taking six hours. There is one high-speed TGV daily train to and from Paris. It departs Perpignan at 07:00 and arrives at Paris Gare de Lyon at 12:58. The return service departs Paris Gare de Lyon at 15:30 arriving in Perpignan at 21:30.
