Car Hire Pavia - Mini guide to Pavia

Pavia is a city located on the southern part of Lombardy. It is the capital of the Lombardy province and it the largest city in its surroundings. Pavia is mostly known for its agriculture and vineyards. The city is devoted to the growth of rice and the preparation of wine. The whole of Italy acquires rice and wine from Pavia. The city is located in a plain called “""Pianura Padana"". The region is extensively covered by the Po river and its branches.

There is also a river called the Ticino which dives the city of Pavia into two parts. There are a few bridges which connect the two parts of the city. The most famous of these bridges are ""Ponte Coperto"" and ""Ponte dell' Impero"". The ""Ponte Coperto"" which was constructed during the times of the Roman empire was destroyed during the second world war. But, it has been reconstructed and the style of the original manufact has been attempted to be maintained. During the 12th century, Pavia has been the Capital Regni Italici under the Longobards.
