If you have any energy left after the exhausting attractions of Disneyworld, the EPCOT centre, Universal studios and Seaworld in Orlando there is plenty more to see in the sunshine state.
The entire Atlantic seaboard is lined with beachfront towns, and the entire panhandles east coast is practically one lone beach, paralleled by the intercoastal waterway and many pretty lagoons. Sheltered by the Bahamas, the southern beaches are free of waves.
The Kennedy Space Center attracts two million people a year to its gallery of space flight, packed with real spacecraft and scale models. NASA has traditionally launched its spaceships from Cape Canaveral, a stone's throw from the Kennedy Space Center. If your timings right you can even catch a launch.
The Ocala National Forest and Blue Springs area is a gigantic, well established Florida park with several natural springs and lakes, and fantastic hiking, canoeing, fishing and swimming. It is also a well-preserved Indian reservation, open to tourists.
Further south is the enormous Everglade wetlands, home to many aquatic and bird varieties, particularly alligators and the endangered docile and unusual Manatee. You will, however need to abandon your car in favour of a swamp rat!
For a little more excitement, Miami is racy, while Fort Lauderdale is up-market, known as the Venice of America because of its many canals, home to million dollar pleasure yachts.
