OffenbachOffenbach-on-Main is a small town, outside Frankfurt. Landratsbezirke Langen, Seligenstadt and Offenbach were merged in 1832 to form the entire district of Offenbach. The Frankfurt airport was later added in 1938 to make Offenbach a district free city, yet the administration remained within Offenbach. Minor changes in 1942, 1974 and 1977 gave Offenbach its border, and 10 cities were added.
The Frankfurt International Airport comprises of a big area within Offenbach, while the River Main falls on the northern border. Major portions of Offenbach are wooded and perfect for taking long walks in the evening. As no specific Old Town area exists, a walk through the city gives way to plenty of old buildings to see. Between the shopping area and the River Main, is Lilipark and Lilitemple, a piece of land with playgrounds for children.
The German leather museum (Deutsches Ledermuseum), is a must see in Offenburg, as the history of leather has many exhibits. From shoes to hats, this museum is ideal for women, although is holds plenty of other items too that will interest everyone visiting here. Shopping is calmer and much friendlier over here than in Frankfurt. In summer at the Füssganger Zone, one can easily find a beer festival with fresh fruits and vegetable stands around, while Wilhelmsplatz is the best place for fresh meats and cheese.
