Car Hire North Wall - Mini guide to North Wall

Forming part of Dublin’s historic Docklands Quarter, North Wall Quay is an exciting blend of charming old buildings and convenient modern facilities, making the district a great place to experience the famous Irish hospitality.

Fronting Beresford Place is the Custom House, the most magnificent building in Dublin, which has survived a somewhat chequered history. Construction was completed in 1791, however the building was almost destroyed by fire twice, once in 1833 and again in May 1921. The building was restored in 1926, 1970 and 1991 and is now back to its former glory. The Custom House now houses a Visitor Centre.

From Beresford Place, take a historic stroll along Abbey Street. As you head down Lower Abbey Street you will come across the famous Abbey Theatre, incorporating the Peacock Theatre, an integral part of Dublin’s internationally acclaimed cultural scene. Follow Middle Abbey Street past some grand old historic buildings and continue on into Upper Abbey Street to beautiful St Mary’s Abbey. Other attractions in the area include the Custom House Docks, the Matt Talbot Memorial and O'Connell Bridges, the Point Theatre, and the Ballast Office with its famous clock, celebrated for its accuracy.

Dublin is famous for its many hundreds of pubs and bars. Two excellent introductions to these are the Guinness Storehouse or the Old Jameson Distillery. Another aspect of Dublin's famous nightlife is its lively nightclub scene. The development of the Docklands will contribute to the range and quality of accommodation, restaurants and nightlife, making North Wall a perfect base for your stay in Dublin.

Dublin is a city rich in history and offers its visitors a wealth of visitor attractions to explore. These include churches, historic buildings, libraries, museums and galleries, parks and gardens. The surrounding countryside is sprinkled with charming towns and quaint traditional villages, best discovered by car.

Located 10 km north of the city centre, Dublin Airport serves flights from most major world cities. There are numerous regular and reliable transportation options from the airport into the city centre.
