Car Hire Newquay - Mini guide to Newquay
Newquay is one of the UKs most popular summer spots, its economy being almost entirely tourism dominated. There are literally hundreds of hotels and B&Bs, gift shops and take away restaurants eager to cater for the multitude of annual visitors.
Newquay's Zoological Gardens are a lovely place to spend an afternoon if you enjoy lush exotic lakeside gardens in the company of free ranging monkeys, wallabies and a host of fascinating birds. Many animals live on islands on the lake, while others inhabit natural open enclosures.
Trerice is a delightful Elizabethan manor house hidden away in a web of narrow lanes, still managing to catch the spirit of its age. The summer-flowering garden is magnificent, and behind the Dutch-style gabled facade are ornate fireplaces, elaborate plaster ceilings and a collection of the highest quality English furniture.
The Lappa Valley Steam Railway runs on one of the oldest railway track beds in Cornwall. It was opened in 1849 as a mineral line to East Wheal Rose.
Perhaps the biggest reason people flock to Newquay is the beaches, which are sandy and pleasant when the sun is shining. Its known as Britains best place for surfing, though the whole activity might seem somewhat bemusing!
