Car Hire New York JFK Airport - Mini guide to New York JFK Airport
John F. Kennedy International Airport is situated 15 miles southeast of Manhattan. It is the busiest airport in New York with more than 30 million passengers filtered through nine separate terminal buildings each year.
The terminals and parking lots at JFK are divided into four colour-coded sections. The green quadrant contains Terminals 1, 2 and 3; the blue quadrant Terminals 4E and 4W; the orange quadrant Terminals 5, 6 and 7 and the red quadrant Terminals 8 and 9. All nine terminals serve companies offering international flight destinations.
All of the airport terminal buildings are linked together by colour-coded shuttle services. Red, white or blue buses denote different inter-terminal passenger service routes within the airport complex. The shuttles also provide services from each terminal to nearby car rental offices.
As one might expect in an airport of such magnitude, JFK offers a huge range of shops, restaurants and bars in each of its terminals. Keep your eyes open for airport location maps on the walls you will probably need them. Banks can be found in Terminals 3, 4 and 8, and currency exchange facilities and ATMs are in every terminal except Terminal 6.
Business travellers may use the data ports located throughout the airport. There are also terminals providing fax, computer, courier services and photocopying. Conference facilities are located in terminal 7 and also in airline lounges.
Disabled travellers are well catered for, with ramps providing good physical access to the airport. TDD phones are also on hand, just follow the many signposts.
JFK Automated Airport Information System provides information on all aspects of the airport. An operator is also available for further assistance. In terminal 3, 6, 7 and 8 you will find Travellers Aid service counters.
