Car Rentals Netherlands - Weather in Netherlands
The Netherlands has a temperate maritime climate with cool winters and mild summers. The landscape is very flat, therefore the weather be very changeable over a short time. Summers (June September) can get fairly hot perfect for sitting at sidewalk cafés next to the canal. The only problem being that you are likely to be surrounded by hordes of tourists this time of year and accommodation is hard to find. Winters (December March) can be bitterly cold with the possibility of snow. Lakes and rivers freeze over at this time so at best you will be able to do some ice-skating on the canal. Spring (April May) is the best time to visit as it provides an awesome array of daffodils and tulips in bloom. Autumn (October November) can be pleasant but you should expect weather ranging from warm and humid to wet and windy. In Autumn and Spring it can be drizzly and grey. Rain however, is spread evenly throughout the year so you cant be guarantee of avoiding it.
The most popular tourist locations, located mainly in the northwest also bear the brunt of the North Seas weather, meaning plenty of rain in summer and icy winters. Amsterdams daily temperature can still be single figures well into May.
