Car Hire in Netherlands - Getting to Netherlands
Schiphol, near Amsterdam (10kms south west), is one of the worlds busiest and an important European hub with flights to every continent and major cities the world over, conveniently connecting with centres throughout Europe, through its modern, highly organized and well equipped terminals. The Netherlands isnt large most the majot city are within an hour of the airport. Trains run up-to a dozen an hour to Amsterdam, Rotterdam and the Hague. Some people prefer flying into the slightly less busy Brussels and Paris airports and using high speed trains (Thalys) to get to the Netherlands.
From Amsterdam's Centraal Station there are high speed trains to Belgium, France, Denmark and Germany. Often this is a far more convenient route for short European distances.
The Netherlands has an excellent, well-maintained highway network, though most of the traffic is found in the north around the Randstad region, including Amsterdam, the Hague and Rotterdam. Driving is safe and easy, but be prepared for congestion.
Flying is much quicker and marginally more expensive than the train/ferry ride from the UK, there is also the option for using the Channel tunnel, but ferries also run between Hook of Holland and Harwich, UK; Europoort (near Rotterdam) and Hull, UK; Ijmuiden (near Amsterdam) and Newcastle, UK; and Ijmuiden and Kristiansand, Norway.
