Murray Bridge is a town in South Australia, and is the fourth most populous in the state. Situated 80 kilometers southeast of Adelaide, Murray Bridge has a population of just over 18,000 people. Even though it's the ancestral home of the Ngarrindjeri people, the area has been home to European settlers since the first half of the 19th century.
The building of the first road bridge across the Murray River allowed the settlement of the area much more quickly. The building of the train station also sped up the process greatly. Murray Bridge came into its own in 1994, when the town's rowing team was tapped to represent Australia at the Olympics in Paris. The team from Murray had won the Australian Eight Oared Championship and were able to compete for the Olympic spot.
