Monza is a city in the River Lambro in the northern Italian province Lambardy. The city is famous for its Racing circuit in the Formula 1 Circuit. The city has produced some exceptional Race drivers from their home tracks.

History:

The origins of the city date back to the Bronze Age in the late 20th century BC. The city was later occupied by Romans in the 3rd Century BC. The arrival of Lombard’s in Italy was of major significance to the town. It became a French colony in the 16th century and a Spanish kingdom in 17th century before returning to Italian Kingdom in late 18th century.

How to get here??

The city is well connected by highways and rails. A4-E64, A52, A51 are some of the roads that connect to Monza. The trains are connected to Milan which is just about 10 minutes from the city.

Geography:

The River Lambro crosses the city from the North to South. Situated at a height of 162m above the sea level the city has a population of about 122,000 spread over 34 square km. Monza is also the third biggest city in Lambardy province.

Getting around the town:

The city is thoroughly connected with Bus service that connects to almost all parts of the city. You can also hire local taxis from upwards of 6 Euros and drive around the city.

Places to Visit:

The Villa Reale is one the important monuments in the city that was built in the 18th century. The 13th Century Town Hall is also one of the important places in the city. There are a number of churches that are worth visiting and last but not the least the city’s Autodromo Nazionale Monza.

The city offers a lot of guided tours to tourists at just over about 3 Euros per head in individual tour and about 2 Euros when on a group Tour. Expert guides are the best way to see the town.

Climatic Conditions:

The city is pretty cold all round the year with temperatures being at about 13° Celsius with scattered rains over all the months.
