Car Hire Miami - Mini guide to Miami
One of Americas most lively qand exciting cities, Miami is a melting pot of cultures (half the population being Hispanic) with an enthralling flavour of Latin American music, food, language and spirit on offer.
Miami Beach caters for the throngs of tourists that visit every year. The Promenade, on the western side, is the real hip area where you may even see fashion shoots in progress. On the southwestern side, South Beach is one of Americas trendiest pieces of waterfront and decidedly camp at that! The amazing Art Deco Historic District is a collection of bright pink, lavender and turquoise buildings dating from the 1920s.
In the middle of Miami Beach is the citys Holocaust memorial, an elaborate, exquisitely detailed and moving memorial built by Miamis Jewish residents.
Back in Miami proper, little Havana, as the name suggests is the Spanish heart of the city. Dont be surprised if you have trouble finding English speakers!
Key Biscayne, south of downtown Miami, has a number of places of interest. Check out the Miami Museum of Science & Space Transit Planetarium. Further east youll find the amazing Miami Seaquarium. Here you can see killer whales, dolphins and of special interest is the Manatee Presentation & Exhibit.
The major suburbs in Miami are: Coral Gables, Hallandale, Hialeah, Key Biscayne, Miami Beach, Miramar, Opa-Locka, Palmetto Bay, Pinecrest and Sweetwater.
