Car Hire in Mexico City - Getting to Mexico City

Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juarez, Mexico City’s only passenger airport, lies 6 km east of Centro Historico. AeroMexico and Mexicana are the country’s two largest airlines. Several airlines have direct flights from Europe to Mexico City and there are at least 25 airlines flying direct from USA and Canada. The airport has decent facilities and the Transportacion Terrestre taxis offer efficient transport into the city centre.

Mexico’s passenger rail services tend to be slow, unreliable and generally on the decline. FNM and Mexican National Railways are the two main rail services. They run three times a week from Mexico City to Querataro, San Miguel de Allende, San Luis Potosi and Saltillo.

There are four bus terminals in the city, in the four compass directions. They fan out from Mexico City, bypassing most large cities. They are generally reliable and well maintained, varying from large luxury buses to rickety small buses. The 57/57D motorway links Mexico City to the north and Queretaro, San luis Potosi and Monterrey. Route 150D heads east to Veracruz and Puebla. The 15/15D heads west to Toluca and Guadaljara. Lastly to the south, the 95D links Mexico City with Cuernavaca and Acapulco.
