The resort of San Jaime is situated on Menorca’s south coast. It is about half an hour from Mahon, which is the island’s capital and about 12 miles from the airport. Travellers with children young enough to require a car seat are advised to pre-book a hire car or a taxi, specifying that a car seat is required.

As well as its own beach, San Jaime has a number of long sandy beaches within 4.5 miles. Generally they offer safe swimming, beachside bars and have sun-beds and water-sports equipment for hire.

Club San Jaime has pools and water-chutes, which are free to use and is centrally located.

Son Bou has a 5th Century basilica at one end of its beach and prehistoric caves that are located in the cliffs above. Sant Tomas and Sant Adeodato, which are 3 miles and 4.4 miles away, respectively, also have safe sandy beaches and swimming.

Within a distance of 1.5 miles is the town of Son Bou, well known for the Torre d’en Galmes, a large prehistoric site, which includes three well-preserved circular buildings dating from about 1400BC. There is also a water system, thought to have been of Roman origin.

Near the village of Es Migjorn Gran is an enormous natural cave, the Cava des Coloms. It is approached by walking through a limestone gorge with birds and plants to see, as well as the remains of prehistoric con-shaped towers. This spectacle is only about 4.5 miles from San Jaime.

Son Bou has shops, bars and restaurants, a chemist and a medical centre. It also has a 16-lane bowling alley and evening entertainment, much of which is appropriate for children.
