Car Rental Mazatlan - Exploring Mazatlan
There are many interesting destinations within a few hours drive of Mazatlan. The picturesque village of Teacapán is 131kms south of the city. This peaceful fishing village sits at the end of a scenic peninsular and has quiet white sand beaches, expansive cattle ranches and steaming mango groves. It makes a nice respite from Mazatlan's summer crowds and it also features a lot of animal and bird life, with deer, ocelot and wild boars roaming the countryside. You can drive there along the highway to Escuinapa or take the bus from Mazatlan.
About two hours drive from Mazatlan is the interesting town of Copala. In the latter part of the 19th century it headed the areas silver mining boom. However, the silver has long since departed, and now this historic site retains only about 600 permanent residents. A unique aspect of this town is the facades of the buildings. They are all painted white and feature red tiled roofs. The old cemetery, ruined houses and deathly quiet streets make it a pleasant place to stroll around. Many tours run from Mazatlan to Copala, or you can drive there on your own.
