Car Hire in Marbella - Getting to Marbella
Malagas busy international airport services the entire Costa del Sol and Eastern Andalusia. Most major European destinations can be reached, and access to Marbella is either by frequent shuttle bus, taxi or taking the train to Fuengirola then waiting for a local bus (much cheaper).
Trains are a slightly more expensive option, but always the most scenic way to travel, the Talgo train or the fast AVE being the best ways to enjoy the Spanish scenery.
Travelling by bus is often problematic throughout Spain. You usually have to queue just to find out when a bus arrives or leaves and often you can only buy a ticket 20 minutes before departure. There are some private bus companies which can be more helpful, but generally there is not enough competition to make these services actually provide a good service!
For big bus trips try the Daibus service. Cheaper than train or plane if you want to go from the Costa del Sol to Madrid and usually quite reliable. Buses leave from Marbella and take you right into Madrid in 8 hours with one stopover on route.
The coastal roads are perfect for people driving Spain at their own pace. However, accidents on the N340 Coast del Sol road are often the cause of long delays and travellers should be patient. The N350 E15 connects Marbella with Malaga.
