Car Rental Majorca - Exploring Majorca
Alcúdia is an historic town where remains of the Roman city of Pollètia have been excavated, the amphitheatre and museum are exemplary. For a change of scenery, the Parc Natural de l'Albufera nature reserve nearby is excellent walking, cycling and bird-watching country. Alternatively, the Coves del Drac (Caves of the Dragon)
boast almost 2000m of caves and six subterranean lakes, and includes a large aquarium.
Deià is an idyllic town with a decidedly bohemian feel that has attracted artists, writers and musicians over the years to its stunning setting.
Sóller is a charming mountain village with attractive old buildings, lush gardens and open plazas. Bars and restaurants border the main square, Plaça de la Constitució. The biggest treat however is the train ride there from Palma, through olive groves that skirt the stunning Tramuntana mountains. In the north, Cap de Formentor is a rocky promontory, an out-of-the-way paradise great for walking, lizard-spotting and bird-watching.
Trying to find an unspoilt beach on Mallorca's developed east coast is not an easy task. Early birds can bag top spots on the lovely, sheltered, Cala Mondragó, with its pine trees and sheltering rocky outcrops.
