Five kilometres south of Spring Green, 64kms west of Madison on Highway 14, stand Frank Lloyd Wright's magnificent former residence, Taliesin, and his Hillside Home School. The estate includes the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center, which features displays, a café and a bookstore.
Nearby is the eclectic House on the Rock, built by Alex Jordan on and out of a natural, 18-metre chimney-like rock and containing Jordan's astounding collections of antiques, nickelodeons and pneumatic music machines, miniature circuses, dolls and dollhouses, maritime memorabilia, armour and firearms.
About an hour east of Madison on the western shore of Lake Michigan is Milwaukee, Wisconsins largest city, home to the Miller Brewing Company and full of great waterfront bars.
