Car Hire Luxembourg - Mini guide to Luxembourg
Luxembourg is as an easy country to explore, as the capital is no more than an hours drive from anywhere else in the country. Its fairy tale charisma makes up for what it lacks in size, and visitors will be delighted by its lush landscapes, with rivers weaving through picturesque rural hamlets.
Luxembourg City, the Grand Duchys capital and historical fortress, is easily covered on foot. Most of the sights are along the southern side of the old town, with plenty of scenic lookout points and peaceful parks. The Old Town is centered around two large pedestrian squares, Place d'Armes and Place Guillaume, and the city's modern commercial centre lies south across the Pétrusse Valley. Highlights of the city include the Bock, a rocky outcrop that forms the cornerstone of the ancient fortress, the labyrinthine casemates, and the Grand Ducal Palace.
The Ardennes in the north is probably the countrys most spectacular region, with luscious valleys, swift rivers, verdant plateaus and towering castles, making it a prime tourist destination. Its most accessible town is Clervaux, best known for its feudal castle and the turreted Benedictine abbey high in the forest above.
Vianden is a small village with a pervasive 9th century charm and a stunning central chateau.
By car you visit many smaller towns and interesting sights around the countrys capital, including the Chemin de la Corniche promenade, Citadelle du St Esprit, and Wiltz.
