Car Hire in Limoges - Getting to Limoges
Limoges is located in the Limousin province in the Massif Central region of France. Limoges Bellgarde Airport lies to the northeast of the city centre on route E603. There are daily flights from Stansted in London with Ryanair, as well as regular daily flights from Paris and other French cities.
Unless you have a prearranged shuttle bus booked, youll have to get a taxi into town. Typical fares are around 16 (more on Sundays) and take approximately 20 minutes.
If coming from Paris by car, take the A10 (Paris-Orleans) motorway. From Orleans, keep heading south, connecting with the A71 (Orleans-Vierzon) motorway. From here, continue south on the A20 motorway all the way to Limoges; the total distance is 400kms.
Bordeaux is 220kms to the southeast on the D10, D13 and E606. Coming from Italy and the Mediterranean, follow the A8, A7, A9, A61 and A20 for the 800-kilometre journey.
Limoges has good train services from most regional cities, with direct trains from Paris and Toulouse. At least ten trains depart daily from Paris's gare d'Austerlitz for Limoges; the journey can last anywhere from 2 hours, 30 minutes to 3 hours, 30 minutes. Trains from Toulouses Matabiau station go every two to three hours and take about 3 hours, 30 minutes.
Trains from Marseilles St Charles station go via Toulouse, where you have to make a change; the total trip time is nine hours. The magnificent Limoges gare des Bénédictins train station lies slightly off to the northeast of the town centre.
Bus transit in and out of the small towns and villages nearby can be arranged through the gare Routière, place des CIEL, immediately adjacent to the railway station.
