Limerick is served by Shannon International Airport, which is about 20 minutes from the city centre. There are regular flights between here and London, Manchester, and some major European cities as well as Dublin and Belfast. Ryanair offers some very cheap flights from UK destinations. There is a shuttle bus service between the airport and Limerick city centre.
Iaranrod Eireann, the national rail service, operates from Colbert Station, five minutes from OConnell Street. There are regular trains to Dublin and Cork taking three and two hours respectively. Some of these require a change at Limerick Junction, which can add an extra 30 minutes to the journey time.
The bus station is right beside the train station. Bus Eireann offers services to all major cities in Ireland, including numerous buses to local and regional areas. Buses tend to be cheaper as well.
Limerick has benefited greatly from Irelands ever improving road network and apart from a few short stretches, there is now a good road between Dublin and Limerick; the journey can be done in under three hours. Cork and Galway are roughly two hours away.
