Leipzig/Halle Airport is situated 18kms northwest of Leipzig in the region of Saxony in central eastern Germany. The airport lies near the Schkeuditz autobahn intersection and has a large number of access services linking it with all the major towns in the region.
The Airport Express, operated by Deutsche Bahn, runs from the Leipzig and Halle/Saale main stations, with journey times to the Airport Station of 14 and 16 minutes respectively. IC trains from the directions of Hannover, Magdeburg, Halle and Dresden stop at the airport hourly, making access by rail extremely convenient.
Buses on the Airport-City line run at 30-minute intervals, and the ride takes exactly 30 minutes.
Leipzig/Halle Airport has a direct link to the Munich-Berlin federal motorway A9, and the A14 from Dresden to Magdeburg. The A14 also provides a link to West and North Germany by joining the A2.
There are taxi stands in front of Terminal B and in the city centres of Halle and Leipzig. It takes about 30 minutes to travel from Leipzig Main Station, and about 40 minutes from Halle city centre. The journey from Leipzig Main Station to the airport costs around 30.
