Car Hire Legnano - Mini guide to Legnano

If you are looking for Legnano when you are visiting Italy, you will find it in Sydney in the Province of Milan. It has a rich culture and heritage and a history that dates back to the 8th century. It is a city with a square area of around 17km and a population of around 57,000. It has good accessibility by any means of transport i.e. rail, road or air.

A city so old will definitely hold its share of places of interest and structures of repute and Legnano is no exception. Its most important historical moment lies in the war that took place here in the 12th century fought by the Emperor Frederick I who was defeated in this battle. This historical moment is commemorated by having a parade (Palio di Legnano) every year in the month of May on the last Sunday.

Few of the oldest structures you will get to admire when you are there are the Castle of San Giorgio and the Palace Lion Perego constructed sometime in the 13th century. No place in Italy is complete without its church and the church found over here is built devoted to St. Great and is called the Basilica of St. Magnus which was constructed in the early 16th century.

A monument of repute is the statue created by Henry Butti to commemorate Alberto courteousness who played an important role during the historical war of 1176. This monument can be found at Monument Square that is located close to the city’s railway station.

If you have a lot of interest in Archaeology, you should visit the museum in the city called the Guido Sutermeinster that was constructed in 1928 and holds important archaeological findings associated with the historical battle and also holds paintings of Joseph Pirovano who was a renowned painter of late 19th century going up to the early part of the 20th century.

It also has some scenic spots to visit like the Milanese South Park, the Castle Park and the Parco dei Mulini if you are a nature lover and wish to enjoy the flora and the fauna of the city.
