Car Hire in Le Havre Ferry Port - Mini guide to Le Havre Ferry Port
Port of Le Havre
The Port of Le Havre is the second biggest in France and acts as the gateway to Normandy. The port was rebuilt after being virtually destroyed in WWII, and is a popular choice for the many ferry ports on the north coast due to its close proximity to Paris, which lies only 124 miles (200kms) to the south. P&O Ferries operates a service to Portsmouth in the UK, for both passengers and freight.
Le Havre Port consists of two terminal buildings. Terminal Irlande is located on Boulevard Kennedy in the town centre; ferries used to leave from here for Ireland, but this service has since been discontinued. The main terminal that serves the United Kingdom is the Bassin de la Citadelle, where P&O ferries make the journey to Portsmouth three times a day.
The terminal has a tourist information desk that can book hotel rooms and onward travel, as well as arrange car rental. There is also a money exchange desk, a café and a convenience store.
The crossing between Le Havre and Portsmouth takes approximately 5 hours, 30 minutes, with departures at 08:30, 15:50 and 23:30. The ferries themselves have everything you’d need onboard, like snack bars and washrooms.
Getting to and from the terminal is simple if you’ve rented a car. The Normandy Bridge connects the port with mainland France, making it easy to get on your way. We can arrange cheap car hire at Caen Port for you through our easy online booking services.
