Situated on the coast, almost at sea level and with moderate winds, La Palma Airport belongs to the network of Canary Islands airports. The airport is the main means of transport for passengers travelling from the island to other islands in the group and to mainland Spain, as well as to the points of origin of various international visitors to the island who mainly arrive from the UK, Netherlands and Germany.
A single, two-level terminal building caters for all domestic and international flights. The levels are designated P0 and P1, with departures on P1 and arrivals on P0. There are four ATM machines on level P0 of the terminal building.
The airport has two cafés on level P0 and a restaurant on level P1, and both duty-free and regular shopping outlets are available. Products on offer include: Canary Island crafts, wine, cigars, cosmetics, sporting goods, delicatessen goods, clothing, toys, electronics, music, press and books. There is also a pharmacy. Eight tour operators have outlets in the airport to aid with any further travel plans. A supervised childrens play area is provided near the departure lounge on level P1.
Those who require special assistance or wheelchairs should notify their airlines when booking their flight. Specially fitted toilets, lifts and ramps are located across the airport. Designated parking areas are available in the car park opposite the terminal. Both airport and tourist information are provided at counters located on level P0 of the terminal building.
