Car Hire La Manga - Mini guide to La Manga
Situated in the Province of Murcia, La Manga is on the southeast Mediterranean coast of Spain. One of the most important tourist centres in the region, La Manga stretches between the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean.
La Manga is situated on the Costa Calida, the The Warm Coast of Spain with miles and miles of sandy beaches. On one side, the Mediterranean shoreline offers a rugged landscape of beach coves and sheltered bays with natural sandy beaches. On the other side, the still inland lagoon of the Mar Menor sprawls over a 120 square kilometres and is divided from the Mediterranean by a 13-mile peninsula of land known as La Manga Strip.
La Manga is known as 'a paradise between two seas' and boasts over 44km of 'Blue Flag' beaches. The Mar Menor or fountain of health is the largest salt-water lake in Europe. It is a magnificent natural swimming pool with temperatures in the winter months of 11ºC, rising to 30ºC in the summer. The shallow waters and the absence of tides make this the ideal place for all types of water sports.
Recreational activities are plentiful, with an abundance of restaurants, bars, shopping complexes and nightlife to meet the demands of residents and holidaymakers alike. Whether you prefer an action packed holiday, a restful break away from it all, or an area of peace and tranquility, La Manga can provide it.
Murcia, 70km from La Manga, is the capital of the region, surrounded by a splendidly fertile cultivated plain. A 10-minute drive along the coast from La Manga will also take you into the quaint fishing village of Cabo de Palos. Drive through the village and take a look around the bays below the lighthouse that towers over the peninsular of La Manga.
Murcia Airport is about 25 minutes drive and Alicante Airport about 75 minutes away by car.
