The La Ferté-sous-Jouarre memorial, located in the southwest of the town and on the southern bank of the River Marne, was built to commemorate at least 3,700 soldiers of the British Expeditionary Force with no known graves who died fighting in the town between the months of August and October in 1914. This memorial is also known as the Memorial to the Missing of the Marne.
