Car Hire La Baule
Mini guide to La Baule
La Baule-Escoublac
Often referred to as La Baule, this town in the Loire-Atlantique département of France is known for having a seven mile long (12km) sandy beach, the longest in Europe. The Bauloise Riviera is complemented by the mild climate of the region and the excellent holiday facilities available.
A fierce storm buried La Baule under sand in 1779, after which the village was rebuilt farther inland. The bay has since gained a reputation as one of the most beautiful in Europe, making it a popular resort destination. Elegant villas line the coast, with the gorgeous beaches easily accessible.
During the 1930s, the town was home to the Grand Prix de la Baule motor racing event. Today, the town boasts a distinguished equestrian show jumping competition called the Grand Prix de la Ville de La Baule.
La Baule is an excellent base for a superb variety of day trips, best toured with a car rental. Within 16 miles (25kms), visitors can travel to 30 different villages, 50 beaches, more than 100 tennis courts, several foot paths and cycle paths, as well as six fishing towns and yachting marinas.
Car hire is undoubtedly the most convenient means of travelling the region and taking advantage of all it has to offer. Booking in advance can ensure the best price.
